The Stanford Heights Fire Department
The Stanford Heights Fire Department, located in Colonie, New York was
formed in 1920 after the developing area had much need for fire protection.
Named after Mr. Stanford who once lived in the area and who's family founded
Stanford University, the fire department was formed. The department is housed
out of two fire stations located about 3 miles away from each other and protects
the Town's of Colonie, New York in Albany County and Niskayuna, NY in
Schenectady County. The Department currently houses 2 Engine Companies, a
Heavy Rescue, an EMS first response unit, and 3 other Utility Vehicles. The Fire
Department provides fire suppression, rescue, and EMS to all protected by the
Stanford Heights Fire District and if requested by mutual aid departments. The
Stanford Heights Fire Department runs on average between 600 and 800 call a
year with a 100% Volunteer force. The District sits just East of the City of
Schenectady and is surrounded by Niskayuna District 1 Fire Department,
Niskayuna District 2 fire department, Midway Fire Department, Fort Hunter
Fire Department, and the Carman Fire Department.
The Membership of the Fire Department is comprised of a very highly dedicated
group of men and women who give up countless hours of their time and risk
their lives each and everyday to protect and server the community. Each
member of the department has specific requirements to maintain membership
and an acceptable level of training to provide the most professional, and safe
operation on any call of duty.

Currently the Stanford Heights fire department is accepting applications for
firematic membership. Members that are interested in joining should both
meet our requirements and download a copy of our membership application.
Requirements
*Must be at least 16 years of age
*Must live within two (2) miles of the fire district
*Must be dedicated
*Must be a character or good moral standing
*Must be in good physical condition
